Jessica Litwak is a multi-disciplinary international theatre leader, recognized in the field of Theatre for Social Change. Litwak has a Ph.D. in Leadership and Change and is a Fulbright Scholar. Her plays have been produced across the United States at theatres such as Rattlestick, The Goodman Theater and La MaMa. She is an educator with over thirty years of experience and teaches workshops around the world.
Litwak defines the term socially engaged theater as performances, which applies to a situation, demographics, mission, problem or idea, act in the interests of art, explores the particular community or purpose, uses theatrical tools for eliciting personal or societal changes while providing a high artistic level . Jessica shows how individual instruments H.E.A.T. (Healing, Education, Activism and Theatre) interact to create high-quality theatrical performances.
